What we love about this basic stir fry recipe is that is can be used in several different ways to switch things up, use it for chicken or beef. Our two favorite ways to use this sauce is with chicken, veggies, and rice as well as sirloin steak fajitas served with soft flour tortillas or over rice.
Basic Stir Fry Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon arrowroot powder or cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Mix ingredients together, and set aside.
- Proceed to instructions for chicken or steak stir fry.
Chicken StirFry
Ingredients
- cut up chicken pieces
- soy sauce
- olive oil
- fresh or frozen veggies like red pepper, broccoli, green beans, carrots, onions, snow peas
- stir fry sauce
Instructions
- Make the stir fry sauce
- Toss cut up chicken pieces and a little bit of soy sauce until coated thoroughly. Then fry in one tablespoon of olive oil and remove from hot pan.
- Add the veggies, another tablespoon of olive oil and add the veggies.
- Fry for a few minutes until tender and still crispy then add sauce until simmering and a little thickened.
- Add chicken back in and serve over rice.
Sirloin Stir Fry
Ingredients
- thinly sliced sirloin
- soy sauce
- olive oil
- onions and red peppers
- stir fry sauce
- rice or in soft tortillas
Instructions
- Coat thinly sliced sirloin in alittle bit of soy sauce (or you can marinate for a couple hours in fridge).
- Fry steak in 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil for a few minutes or until tender, remove steak.
- Add another tablespoon of olive oil and fry onions and peppers for a few minutes until tender and still crispy.
- Add steak back in with remaining sauce and simmer until sauce is slightly thickened.
- Serve over rice or in soft tortillas.
